Riverstreet Engagement Session · Nana + Torrance

It was the classic love story.  They met in high school and fell in love.  With life happening, their young love came to an end with high school.  Throughout the years, they often thought of each other.  20 years went by before they saw each other again at their 20th high school reunion. Torrance told me that he saw that Nana’s name tag that had a “miss” by her name, so he knew that she was meant to be his wife.  They started dating again shortly thereafter.

They will be wed this summer on Tybee Island and will hold their reception at the Savannah Conference Center.

We began their engagement session on the beach on Tybee Island.

Our next stop was the hub of Savannah – River Street.  We spent our time slumming the alleys looking for fabulous places with fabulous light.

It was hard to keep these two serious!  This session was filled with tons of smiles and laughter.  I love these type of sessions!  Nana was a gorgeous smile.

River Street had a special boat festival.  We decided to catch a picture of these two under the Coast Guard ship.

Can’t wait until your July wedding!

Stone Mountain Engagement Session · Velera + Marcus

They met over Mexican food. Velera made a quick stop at Chipotle between business meetings and Marcus was there enjoying his burrito – until he saw Velera.  She jokes that Marcus waved his finger at her to get her attention. However, he worked his magic and soon they had their own first date.

Of course a random meeting at Chipotle ended up yielding more than great Mexican food. Velera and Marcus fell in love and will be married in September of this year.

We started their engagement session back at the infamous Chipotle where everything began.  We then spent the rest of the afternoon at gorgeous Stone Mountain Park – a place where Velera and Marcus has spent several weekends picnicking and hiking the trails.

Velera did a quick wardrobe  change and we were off visiting some of Stone Mountain’s famous attractions.  We began at the historic covered bridge and then visited Grist Mill.

I had to get a few shots of Velera alone in her fabulous blue dress.  She was full of smiles and laughter all afternoon.

We finished the afternoon by hiking to the top of Stone Mountain.  And yes, I am totally kidding!  We took the cheat and rode the Sky Summit instead.

I am looking forward to their wedding in September!

5 Ways to Have Gorgeous Wedding Photos

As part of our Bride University series, today we are discussing tips on how to have gorgeous wedding photos.  Weddings are one of the most important days of our lives and we want to look our best!  We want our photographs to reflect how happy and beautiful we are on our wedding day.  As photographers, we want to deliver those beautiful photos to you.  Here are a few tips to help you look your best on your day and to help ensure that you have beautiful photography.

1. Get Glammed Up!

This is the perfect time to splurge on a fabulous make-up artist and hair stylist.  Professional stylist just know what looks best in photos.  They will have you and your bridal party picture perfect in no time.  Plus  you will start the day feeling pampered by a professional.

2. Have Original Details

There are magazines and websites full of ways to tell you how to decorate your wedding.  Best advice? Do what you love!  It is your day.  The more that you fill your venue with flowers and decorations that you love, the more the wedding will reflect who you are.  If you have an event planner, don’t be afraid to suggest the things that you love and want to incorporate into your wedding.

3.  Clear the Clutter

Try to keep the bridal suite or getting ready area free of clutter.  It is difficult to have beautiful getting ready pictures with bras, drinks, and loads of other things hanging around in the background.  One simple solution is to have a large plastic tote and throw everything into it.  That way it can easily be moved out the way when it is time for the bride to be getting dressed.

4. Have a Solid Timeline

Accurate time lines help everyone including you stay more relaxed!  Leave time in your day to just relax.  Also realize that most weddings do not run on time, and that is OK as long as you planned ahead and added extra cushion time in.  Wedding photos take about 2 – 3 minutes per photo.  Leave your photographer enough time to capture the parts of your day that mean the most to you.  If you are having an outdoor wedding, schedule it at a time when their is soft light outside (usually about 90 minutes before sunset).   This will make your wedding day pictures rock!

5. Have a Blast

Nothing makes a bride and groom look as gorgeous as when they are laughing, smiling, and enjoying the moments of their wedding day. Smile a lot and enjoy your wedding day!

Atlanta Wedding Photographers, InterContinental Buckhead Hotel Wedding

Brett and Brady were married at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.  They had an intimate reception at the  InterContinental Buckhead Hotel.

The day began in Brett and Brady’s fabulous suite at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel.

Ok, I know, there are two shoe shots.  Brady couldn’t decide which ones to wear, so the Choos became the ceremony shoe, and the Loubies became the reception shoe.

Brady kept smiling the entire day.
