Lake Olmstead Wedding in Augusta, GA · Benita + Aubrey

On Saturday there was an 80% chance of rain.  The day was ushered in under gray skies and clouds threatening to cry at any given moment.  The sun played peek-a-boo between the clouds’ wishy-washy eruptions of rain.

Most brides would have been unnerved.  Benita had been planning an outdoor beach themed wedding and reception for months.  I could tell that she wanted the rain to clear, but she looked at me and told me that she actually likes rain and peek-a-boo suns because when they unite, they can create breathtaking rainbows.
That is just how Benita and Aubrey are.  They are both kind and gentle souls who have a way of seeing the glass as half full instead of half empty.  They see the threat of rain and instantly think rainbows.  I love the way you guys see the world.
Benita and Audrey dreamed of bringing the beach to Augusta, GA.  They united at Lake Olmstead Park in a simple and intimate ceremony in front of their closest friends and family.
Right before the wedding, the rain disappeared, the clouds began to dispersed, and the sun found a way to poke through for a visit.
I got the opportunity to witness a love that transcended race, gender, and traditional beliefs on marriage.  Benita and Audrey, thank you for always trusting that the sun and rain would mix and create a rainbow in the end.  You two are truly beautiful people.
Much love,
Benita’s make-up looked flawless!  Her make-up done at La Dolce Vita Salon and Spa .
What happens when a girl wants two dresses?  She designates one as the ceremony dress and the other as a  reception dress.  How fabulous is that?
Benita was well prepared with an emergency bridal kit.  It even came with an emergency straw to keep the lip gloss poppin between sips of wine and champagne.
We arrived at Lake Olmstead Park in a torrential downpour.  You wouldn’t know it by how  fierce Benita was looking!
The rain broke and the sun came out to play just before the ceremony.  Benita and Aubrey quickly agreed to leave the cover of the gazebo and venture out into the wet grass for a photo session around Lake Olmstead Park.   Benita was completely barefoot!  I love it when couples are willing to do what it takes to get the pictures they want.
The gazebo ceremony.
The reception was held at Cafe 209, right on the Augusta Riverwalk.  (psst… did you spot the second dress just for the reception?)
Absolutely love all of the details of this wedding!
Their gorgeous almond and raspberry cake by Jennifer’s cakes.

Benita and Aubrey had strings of photo memories hanging throughout a section of their reception.  Before their grand departure, we took a moment to capture them engulfed in the memories that they cherished. These were some of my favorite photos of the night.
