3 Tips For Beautiful Engagement Photos

Engagement sessions are all about me getting to know you as a couple and you getting to know me as a photographer before the wedding.  They are laid back and relaxed sessions usually lasting about 90 minutes. We want to capture your true personalities and showcase your sweet relationship. Engagement sessions consist of you meeting us (usually an hour before sunset because of the soft lighting at this time of day) at a location that is special to you.

Tip 1 – Schedule your session as early as possible

If you are planning to use your photos for your programs, save the date cards, or a guest book, you’ll need to do your session as early as possible.  It’s common to send save the date cards out about 6 – 8 months before a wedding.

Tip 2 – Wear clothing that reflects your personality

Stick to your own personal style, or glam it up a bit.  Consider bringing a change of clothes to get a variety of looks.  Some couples wear a casual outfit  and bring along a dressier one.  Just be mindful that if we are in a park, you may be limited to changing locations!   Brides, remember to bring along a comfortable pair of shoes if you are wearing heels.  Most importantly, have fun, smile a lot,  and be yourself.

Tip 3 – Props are OK

Bring along anything that reflects who you are as a couple or enjoy doing together.  It can be college or sport paraphernalia, a sign with your wedding date, or a pet.  This is your session!  Be as creative as you want or keep it as simple as you please.

Engagement photos are posted to your online gallery in about 3 weeks.  You’ll be able to share the gallery with friends and family.  We also often post a sneak-a-peek on our blog before your online gallery is ready.  Custom save the dates, canvases, and other printed products are available.  Email us for details.
